Mike Patakas

Mike and his wife and business partner Maria joined Douglas Elliman to be a part of the luxury firm’s vision for the markets they serve in the Coachella Valley. Douglas Elliman’s growth in the desert region will be greatly enhanced by Mike’s experience, his expertise in helping buyers find their perfect home, and his track record of sales and exemplary client testimonials. Properties represented by Mike and Maria have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Variety, Architectural Digest, Behind the Gates, and several other online and print national publications. Starting in mortgage finance sales and then working as a Sales Manager for seven years, Mike has been in the Real Estate industry since 1999 and provides a diverse background of experiences to his clientele. He and Maria have resided in the desert since 2011, and are active within the community. Outside of work, Mike enjoys hiking, reading, cooking, working out, trying new restaurants, socializing with friends, and spending time with Maria and their pets, a dog named Sophie and a cat named Lola.

Proud to join Douglas Elliman’s Palm Springs office, Maria’s attention to detail, expert listening skills, results-driven approach, natural charisma, and genuine personality are a welcome addition to the Coachella Valley team. A top producing agent in the desert market for the past several years, her Real Estate career began in 2004 in the finance part of the industry in Orange County where she was born and raised. The experiences she gained advising clients through the home loan process are still valuable to this day as she navigates her buyers and sellers through the often complex and lengthy process of buying or selling a home. 

Fascinated by architecture at a young age, Maria has a great eye for style and design and enjoys the creative nuances involved in selling real estate. She can easily envision how to properly stage and market a property and present it in its best possible light to achieve top dollar for her clients. Maria’s substantial knowledge of the desert area market extends not only throughout the city of Palm Springs but the other desert cities as well including Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, La Quinta.

Maria’s natural-born desire to help others motivates her to be an advocate for several important causes within her community. She is a board member of Christopher’s Clubhouse- an organization that provides comprehensive safety education and training to keep children safe from predatory crimes. For the past six years she’s also been an active member of The Junior League of Palm Springs, where she has served in several capacities- first as board secretary then VP of Communications for two years. The JLPSDC is a women’s organization that provides training and volunteering/outreach within the desert communities and focuses on serving its women and children. Maria also supports The Ophelia Project, which provides mentoring and scholarships for young girls. Additionally her activism reaches to various local and national animal rescue organizations. 

Maria is eternally grateful to all friends, family and associates who have from the beginning demonstrated their trust and support by referring people who needed real estate help because that has laid the foundation for where their business is today. She looks forward to helping more people achieve their real estate goals and maintaining the high standards of service she and Mike have built their reputation on. Maria is a devoted mom to her fur babies and enjoys spending as much time as possible with her family and friends who are like family. She also enjoys popping into a dance class, singing, yoga, hiking and traveling.
